Today we introduce you to Giselle Rojas, Virtual Global Event Manager. Giselle’s expertise is creating seamless virtual event experiences for our clients.

Meet Giselle Rojas

Tell us about your current role with Miller Tanner Associates (MTA)? What are your primary responsibilities?
In my current role as a virtual global event manager, one of my main responsibilities includes supporting our clients with the planning and delivery of their virtual requests. These requests range from the delivery of virtual or hybrid events, media captures or the hosting of content on our VALTs proprietary web-based learning management system. Most importantly, I work with the clients to identify their needs and ensure their expectations are exceeded.

What did you do before joining MTA?
Prior to joining MTA, I worked for a large real estate company. In my last role, I was responsible for training, coaching, and development as well as event management and execution.

What aspects of your job do you enjoy most/find most fulfilling?
I enjoy being able to contribute and share ideas across MTA departments. Creating virtual experiences that deliver on the clients’ needs and turning them into reality is very fulfilling.

What do you believe are the biggest benefits of hosting virtual meetings?
Virtual meetings are a great bridge when you are not able to meet face to face. It offers great value and savings. The logistics can be implemented very fast. There’s no need to worry about the venue, hotel, airfare, meal costs, etc. You can bring together participants from across the globe knowing the message will be delivered to everyone quickly and securely. And if you are eco-conscious, it also reduces the carbon footprint!

What’s the biggest myth about virtual meetings, in your opinion?
Myth: Virtual Meetings are not engaging.
Reality: With the ability to ask verbal or written questions during the virtual meeting or use in-session polling, attendees can interact and stay engaged. They may even feel more comfortable asking questions or responding via chat than on a face-to-face event.

What do you feel makes Miller Tanner stand out most as meeting planning company?
In addition to a global presence with exceptional planning expertise that creates flawless events, I have to say that the passion, dedication, and commitment that every MTA member brings to ensure the end result is seamless, on time and on budget is simply amazing. We don’t stop when issues arise, instead, solutions are found. Each MTA member is key in making this difference!

What are three must-do or must-see activities in your state?

I currently live in North Carolina. It is hard to think of just three things since North Carolina is very diverse providing great options no matter what you like to do. There’s a little bit of everything for everyone – from the beach to the mountains and tons of activities in between for all ages. If I had to pick just three, I would say, head to the mountains and visit Asheville. While there, take a ride along the Blue Ridge Parkway for a beautiful scenic drive and also visit the Biltmore Estate. If you like the ocean, then Southport may be for you. It’s a small coastal town that offers a laid-back feel and the downtown area offers southern architecture and charm. Lastly, since I live close to Raleigh, you can take advantage of an array of cultural events. You will find the PNC Arena, museums and tons of breweries and food options. Oh, and don’t forget to try some delicious southern sweet tea!

What do you do for fun?
I love all sorts of arts and crafts, photography, outdoor events, and activities. During the summer, I love attending the “Movies by Moonlight” at Cary’s Koka Booth Amphitheatre. A portion of the proceeds benefits the WakeMed Children’s Hospital. It’s a great way to relax and enjoy the outdoors while also contributing to a worthy cause.
