    Languages spoken:

Currently learning Spanish! And while I may not be fluent in another language just yet, I do speak “Congress” — which helps me connect with our customers, understand their unique goals, and collaborate seamlessly with our internal teams (also fluent in “Congress language”) to bring their congress vision into reality.

Tell us about your current role with MTA. What are your primary responsibilities?

In my role as a key account manager at MTA, I serve as the strategic bridge between our customers and internal teams, ensuring that every interaction is not just transactional but truly transformational. I focus on building and nurturing strong, trust-based relationships with our customers while continuously identifying opportunities to expand these partnerships.

What did you do before joining MTA?

I began my events career in high school catering, which sparked a lifelong passion for creating meaningful experiences. After earning my degree in event management, I worked in luxury hospitality before transitioning to life sciences. Over the years, I’ve managed global congress logistics, housing, and compliance, eventually moving into program management, where I aligned brand strategy with seamless execution to deliver impactful congresses across the globe.

What do you feel are the most fulfilling aspects of your job?

One of the most fulfilling aspects of my work is helping customers uncover the full potential of MTA’s congress capabilities. Many aren’t aware of just how much support we can provide – from logistics to engagement to data-driven strategy. I love being able to connect the dots for them, showing how we can streamline operations, reduce risk, and ultimately elevate the entire congress experience. Collaborating with our internal experts to tailor solutions that meet each client’s unique needs is incredibly rewarding.

What are some of the latest trends you are seeing with congress meetings and events?

In 2025, events, especially congresses, are increasingly guided by data-informed planning, where every element is tied to purpose and performance. Customers want measurable ROI, not just from HCP engagement and booth traffic, but also from ancillary events and internal spend. There’s a growing focus on qualifying business activities by their true impact, ensuring resources are allocated intentionally. With tools that support real-time logistics and attendee-level tracking, teams can refine strategy on the ground, avoid unnecessary spend, and tell a fuller story of congress value.

The best congresses aren’t built on flashy tactics – they’re built on strong fundamentals, executed flawlessly.

What are some key strategies for launching a successful congress meeting?

Success starts with mastering the basics. A deep understanding of congress registration and housing nuances can prevent costly missteps and help teams fully leverage sponsorship benefits. Precision in planning, timeline management, and vendor negotiation keeps logistics flowing smoothly and avoids unnecessary stress later. And having the right tools – whether for communication, event management, or real-time analytics – means teams stay aligned and proactive, not reactive. The best congresses aren’t built on flashy tactics – they’re built on strong fundamentals, executed flawlessly.

What’s one misconception from customers regarding congress events?

A common misconception is that greater impact requires greater spending. In reality, working with experienced congress partners allows teams to be more strategic and thoughtful. By cutting waste, optimizing sponsorship benefits, and streamlining execution, customers can invest intentionally in the areas that truly move the needle – often achieving stronger outcomes without overspending.

What is the one must-have for every event?

Simple. Great agency partners. In life sciences, where compliance, precision, and cross-functional alignment are critical, having the right partners makes all the difference. From proposal to reconciliation, it takes a team: account and customer success managers, project leads, delegate management experts, venue sourcing, and financial analysts – working behind the scenes to bring clarity, control, and strategic value to every congress. A great agency doesn’t just execute; they elevate the experience, ensuring every touchpoint supports the science and delivers meaningful impact.

What makes Miller Tanner Associates stand out as a meeting planning company?

We don’t just plan meetings – we engineer outcomes. At MTA, we combine deep life sciences expertise with smart tech, agile, creative execution, and flawless logistics. Our proprietary tools give customers real-time visibility and a full picture of financial analytics, empowering smarter decisions and measurable outcomes. From compliance to congress strategy, we simplify the complex so our customers can focus on what really matters: driving impact.

Where are you from and where do you currently reside? What do you enjoy most about the area? Any recommended tourist spots?

I’m originally from Indiana and will always be a Midwesterner at heart, but now I proudly call San Antonio home. It’s a big city with a small-town feel – full of heart, amazing food, and warm hospitality. I also appreciate the mild winters… no more shoveling snow! If you’re ever in town, you have to stroll along the River Walk. It’s scenic, vibrant, and captures the welcoming spirit of San Antonio perfectly.

What do you do for fun?

I love spending quality time with my two children, family, and our “friends that are like family.” Staying active is a big part of my life – dancing and Pilates are my go-to workouts. I also enjoy hiking and making weekend trips to the South Texas beaches whenever I can.

Anything else you’d like to add?

I’m truly grateful to be part of a team that values collaboration, creativity, and excellence. There’s something really special about working alongside people who care deeply about what they do – and about each other. I’ve formed some amazing friendships here at MTA and look forward to celebrating many successes with this incredible group of people for many years to come!

Meet Hannah Taylor, Financial Compliance Associate

CliftonStrengths:  Developer, Empathy, Adaptability, Relator, Positivity

Tell us about your current role with MTA. What are your primary responsibilities?

As a financial compliance specialist, I mainly process expense reimbursements for event attendees and complete post-event compliance and transparency reports.

What did you do before joining MTA?

Before joining MTA, I was an associate accountant for a medical device company.

What do you feel are the most fulfilling aspects of your job?

In my time at MTA, I’ve discovered countless aspects of my job that I truly enjoy. There are so many parts of my job that I love. I’m fortunate to be part of a fantastic team that is not only supportive and creative but also hard-working and enjoyable to work with. Plus, each day brings its unique challenges, as no reimbursement or transparency report is ever the same.

I truly appreciate how, as a company, we constantly seek improvements and efficiency in our processes. Managers and the leadership team wholeheartedly encourage everyone to think creatively and share their ideas. I’ve enjoyed working on numerous projects that not only satisfy my inner problem-solver but also allow me to collaborate with colleagues with whom I don’t typically work.

What are some ways that the Finance Team alleviates the burden when planning an event?

The Finance Team expertly creates a budget plan tailored to meet each customer’s needs and compiles a final budget portfolio complete with all necessary documentation. Specific to the Financial Compliance Team, customers and attendees can be assured that we process reimbursements quickly and accurately. We follow specific company, state, federal, and country guidelines pertaining to reimbursements and transparency. If challenges arise, we dive in and investigate, ensuring our services to customers and event attendees continue to align with our top-notch white-glove commitment.

What makes Miller Tanner Associates stand out as a meeting planning company?

MTA truly is a full-service planning company. MTA genuinely cares about and prioritizes everyone they encounter, transforming each event into a memorable experience. By encouraging collaboration across departments, they ensure an enjoyable journey for customers, vendors, attendees, and staff. Plus, their innovative apps and software simplify the event process, making it easier for everyone involved.

Why do you think that the MTA Workshops are important? What do you get most from this time together?

Nothing beats the face-to-face interactions that help strengthen our relationships with colleagues we see frequently, as well as those from MTA we don’t interact with as often.

What do you do for fun?

I love traveling and spending time with my husband and daughters. As a family, we enjoy being outside, whether it’s running around the yard with the dogs and turkeys or jumping off the dock at the lake. I also love to cook, bake, read, listen to music, and go to concerts.

Where do you live, and what do you love most about your state/city? Any must-see tourist spots?

I was born and raised north of Memphis, Tennessee. My favorite thing about Memphis is probably the zoo. Something is always being added or updated, so each time you go, it’s a new experience. We can spend an entire day there and still feel like we didn’t see everything.

Downtown Memphis has excellent restaurants. The Majestic Grille – a former movie theater – is one of my favorites. When the current owners converted the building to a restaurant, they preserved its vintage movie screen, so they continue to show classic films as diners enjoy their meals.

There are so many things to love about Tennessee, though: The food. The music. The people. The sports. (Go Vols!) Between Memphis, Nashville, and Knoxville, there’s something for everyone.

Meet MTA: Sofie Woods, Senior Product Manager

The Miller Tanner Associates’ (MTA) difference is our people. That’s why we want to introduce you to our team of superstars who bring our corporate meetings and events to life for our customers. Today, we introduce you to Senior Product Manager Sofie Woods. With her expertise in product management, Sofie is engaged with the full lifecycle of MTA’s in-house software products from initial idea to development, ensuring the goals of products and features translate into an intuitive user experience.

Meet Sofie Woods, Senior Product Manager

Strengths (based on CliftonStrengths): Maximizer, Futuristic, Responsibility, Arranger, Relator

      Languages spoken: Swedish and English

Tell us about your current role with MTA?

I am a senior product manager overseeing the lifecycle of our internal software products EPIC and ATTEND. Our team is involved from the initial idea of a product feature through requirement gathering and development. We also create launch plans and do follow-up tracking to ensure the goals of developing the product or a feature are met!

What did you do before joining MTA?

Most recently, I worked as a product director at an advertisement technology company. Before that, I was an event manager in Sweden, Finland, and Norway, where I got experience planning and working at B2B conferences.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I love creating processes and being the connector between teams. A big part of my job is translating requirements and using the language and examples between different teams.

What makes Miller Tanner Associates stand out as a meeting planning company?

Our people. The amount of care that I have seen at MTA in the time I have been here is incredible! We care about each other internally, our products, and go the extra mile for the customer.

What are some of your favorite MTA product features that are helping to transform the event experience for attendees?

Top of mind right now is EPIC Insights, which is our data dashboard feature in EPIC. This feature allows the customer to see their event data in real-time so they can make educated decisions for the most successful events possible.

Why do you think that the MTA Workshops are important? What do you get most from this time together?

I believe meeting our co-workers in person is so valuable for relationship building when working remotely with less frequent face-to-face time. The small talk, jokes, and meals together help “fill in the colors” and create a more complete picture of the people you might be emailing with during your days.

Where do you live, and what do you love most about your state/city? Any must-see tourist spots?

I live with my husband, our 2 kids, and a dog in Colorado. I love all the seasons that Colorado has to offer! The Rocky Mountains, I would say, are a must-visit. Whether it’s skiing, rock climbing, or hiking, the Rockies are amazing! I would also recommend hitting up a hot spring while you are here. We also live in Sweden for a few weeks each summer, as that is where my extended family still lives. I would recommend visiting Sweden for Midsummer, as that is one of the largest holidays and celebrations!

What do you do for fun?

Yoga, singing, traveling, volunteering, dancing, reading, tennis, and fika (Swedish term – look it up and be inspired).

Anything else you’d like to add?

I try to be involved in my community and recently started an initiative called Inspired By Her to amplify female voices through an annual benefit concert and a podcast. I love passion projects and initiatives and would love to hear about yours if you want to share with me!

From your role’s perspective, what is a key factor in a successful event?

Preparation – this can truly set the foundation for everything to run smoothly. But in reality, things rarely go as planned, so being able to roll with the punches is just as important. Flexibility, patience, and having a supportive team make all the difference!

What makes Miller Tanner Associates stand out as a meeting planning company?

What truly makes us stand out is that MTA ‘gets it done’. No matter how impossible a request might seem, our team will always find a way to make it happen. This “go-getter “attitude and creativity are my favourite parts about working here.

Joana pictured with fellow Global Experiences – Partnership team members.

Why do you think that the MTA Workshops are important? What do you get most from this time together?

The workshops bring everyone together in person, beyond emails and Zoom. It enables us to build trust; we get to connect face-to-face and know each other better. What are some ways that the Finance Team takes the burden off of the customer when planning an event?

Finance plays a critical role by supporting our Global Experiences Team. Paying vendors and hotels in a timely, efficient manner allows our Global Experiences Team to focus on the customers’ needs and build relationships that will greatly impact the success of an event. Great communication internally will allow for the customer to focus on the event content and less on the clerical tasks & planning!

Why do you think that the MTA Workshops are important? What do you get most from this time together?

This July will be my first workshop! I have heard great things about this time shared together and the connections made. I cannot wait to meet the MTA family!

What do you do for fun?

I fully embrace being a mom to my two little girls! My favorite things to do are to take them to the zoo, farmers markets, or to local farms to play and see animals. My husband and I love attending concerts (that’s how we met). When I am having “me time” I like to go to brunch with my friends and occasionally line dancing! I love country music!

Where do you live and what do you love most about your state/city? Any must-see tourist spots?

It’s such a beautiful property. The wine is tasty and the winery is also family-friendly! My girls love dancing to the live music they have on the weekends.

Strengths (based on CliftonStrengths): Individualization, Strategic, Communication, Arranger, Woo

Tell us about your current role with MTA? What are your primary responsibilities?

In my role, I guide customers through the planning and preparation for their events. With the help of our incredible team, I keep them informed and lead them through decisions that set their events up to be successful for everyone involved. The final phase of event execution is my version of ending on a high note. The setup with the team, the on-site execution of the event, and the opportunity to meet the customers are what I look forward to the most.

What did you do before joining MTA?

Prior to joining MTA, I worked as a project manager and operational coordinator for a small residential construction firm, overseeing large-scale renovations and new home builds. In that role, I coordinated project schedules, managed budgets, and assisted with design solutions, all while working closely with clients to bring their vision to life.

My favorite part of the work we do is being part of a strong team! My first event will always be special! It was the first in-person meeting with so many colleagues, and I gained a ton of perspective from seeing the MTA team in action on-site!

Do you have a few great travel tips that you could share?

Use packing cubes, stay hydrated (always!), eat where the locals eat, and be flexible!

What’s the one must-have for every event? A positive attitude.

What makes Miller Tanner Associates stand out as a meeting planning company?

Two things come to mind. First, the specialized experience of this organization. There’s so much expertise within MTA, and that presents incredible opportunities for someone newer in this particular industry to learn and grow. Coming from a small family-owned business, the established processes and systems that have been built and improved over the years really stand out as a strength.

Second, is the culture. Since day one I’ve felt empowered and supported at pretty much every turn. I’ve been given space to learn and grow, trusted with responsibility, encouraged, and challenged in great ways. It’s clear that MTA cares about its people, and operates in a way that prioritizes them. I’m glad to be a part of it.

You are originally from? You currently reside in? What do you enjoy most about livingthere? Any favorite spots that you would recommend to tourists?

I grew up in Marietta, GA (just outside of Atlanta) and went to school at The University of Georgia. I fell in love with the town and never left Athens after graduating! I enjoy the smaller-town community connections, the walkability of our neighborhood, and the distinct seasons of living in a college town. There are some excellent restaurants in town (unbiased plug for my brother’s restaurants, Seabear and Pretty Boy) and fantastic watering holes (Creature Comforts and The Hidden Gem). Our music scene is robust and a show at The Georgia Theater is an absolute must!

What do you do for fun?

I love a project in my personal life, too! Some might say that I like to stay busy (or can’t stay still). I love DIY projects, finding ways to improve spaces around the house, and finding new outlets to use my creativity. My husband and I are avid gardeners, and we love to spend time in the kitchen. On the weekends, you can find me in the woods with my dog, playing soccer, and enjoying time with friends and family!

What makes Miller Tanner Associates stand out as a meeting planning company?

MTA stands out as a meeting planning company because of our strong culture and commitment to investing in our people. The word “Associates” is in our name for a reason—without our team members, there would be no magic. In my role, I have the unique opportunity to connect with our team to ensure they’re engaged, connected, and truly passionate about the work they’re doing. This passion easily translates to our customers, who can see the dedication our team has for bringing their vision and goals for each event to life.

Why do you think that the MTA Workshops are important? What do you get most from this time together?

The experiences from these workshops are talked about daily, with stories about activities and the meaningful connections made during the time spent together. Senior MTA members often reminisce about workshops from years past, clearly cherishing the memories and bonds they formed. There’s truly nothing like an in-person connection with your team. We emphasize this same message to our clients, encouraging them to create space for genuine, organic human interactions—and we make sure to live and breathe this ideal within our own team as well.

What do you do for fun?

I love cooking and entertaining! My favorite part is exploring the market for unique produce or ingredients and then getting creative in the kitchen. I enjoy the challenge of learning new flavors, balancing tastes, and introducing exciting new dishes to the table.

You are originally from? You currently reside in? What do you enjoy most about living there? Any favorite spots that you would recommend to tourists?

I’m originally from St. Petersburg, Russia, but I’ve called the U.S. home since I was young. I currently live in New Jersey. I absolutely love experiencing all four seasons here! New Jersey is full of charming small towns, stunning parks, and gardens, not to mention our beautiful shores. I’m a big fan of the eclectic vibe in Asbury Park and the laid-back, family-friendly atmosphere of Long Beach Island.

What’s been your favorite event destination as an event planning professional?

My favorite event destination as an event planner would be Branson, Missouri. While it wasn’t initially on my bucket list, I had the pleasure of visiting five times for events and grew to truly appreciate the area. It’s a beautiful destination, surrounded by lush greenery and stunning lakes. The town is charming, with unique attractions, including the giant chicken, which adds a fun touch.

What’s been your most memorable event to date and why?

My most memorable event took place at the Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The town itself is quirky, and the falls are stunning. What made this event unique was that attendees were encouraged to bring their families. It was such an interesting mix of professional and personal – with a bowling alley just on the other side of the wall and kids running around howling like wolves. The energy and fun atmosphere made the event stand out, and the attendees absolutely loved it. It was a one-of-a-kind experience that blended work and play in the best way possible.

Do you have a few great travel tips that you could share?

Pack smart! While it’s not always possible to travel with just carry-ons, it can be incredibly helpful when you need to carry your luggage upstairs or switch to another plane quickly. It makes everything more manageable. Packing cubes are also a game-changer! They help you maximize space and keep everything organized. Another important tip is to research your destination beforehand. Know the climate, the local currency, and the transportation options available. It can really make your trip smoother and less stressful.

What’s the one must-have for every event?

A must-have for every event is flexibility. No matter how much you plan, things can change and probably will change whether it’s a last-minute schedule adjustment, travel issues, or unforeseen issues. Being adaptable and able to think on your feet is crucial for ensuring the event continues smoothly.

Why do you think that the MTA Workshops are important? What do you get most from this time together?

The MTA Workshops are so beneficial because they provide a unique opportunity for team members to connect in person, share experiences, and learn from each other. It’s a chance to gain insights into how to work better together and understand the different perspectives within the company.

What makes Miller Tanner Associates stand out as a meeting planning company?

MTA stands out as a meeting planning company because of its incredible team and commitment to excellence. The company fosters a supportive, collaborative, and friendly work environment that encourages employees to do their best work. The team consistently strives to exceed client expectations. MTA’s strong culture, built on respect and genuine care for both employees and customers, is what truly sets MTA apart and is my favorite aspect of MTA.

What do you do for fun?

I have been fostering dogs since 2016 and absolutely love helping pups find their forever home. I also enjoy reading murder mystery books, hiking, and traveling with my daughter.

You are originally from? You currently reside in? What do you enjoy most about living there? Any favorite spots that you would recommend to tourists?

I am originally from Washington and have lived in Phoenix, Arizona for 12 years. There is never a lack of vitamin D, you can always find something to do, and if I ever want to see snow, it is only an hour away. I would recommend tourists go to the Desert Botanical Garden to see the diverse desert flora and to visit Camelback Mountain, one of the most popular hiking trails in Phoenix.

Anything else you’d like to add?

Since joining MTA, I’ve felt a deep sense of gratitude to work for a company that values collaboration, innovation, and excellence, and where every day presents new opportunities.
